◆ Background
I graduated in medicine from Kaohsiung Medical College in Taiwan, studied environmental and occupational medicine in the Institute of Public Health at the National Taiwan University College of Medicine, and got MSc and PhD degrees in Epidemiology and Population Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in United Kingdom.
◆ Teaching
I have been working at the Institute of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (merged from Institute of Occupational Medicine and Industrial Hygiene and Institute of Environmental Health) of National Taiwan University College of Public Health since February 1996. Currently, I am a distinguished professor and teaching children's health and the environment, women's health and the environment, developmental origins of health and disease, and statistics in environmental and occupational health. I served as director of the Department of Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the National Taiwan University Hospital and National Taiwan University College of Medicine in 2012-2018 as well as director of the Institute of Occupational Medicine and Industrial Hygiene at the National Taiwan University College of Public Health in 2014-2019.
◆ Research
Most of our studies are based on epidemiological methods and focus on public, environmental and occupational health sciences, especially for solving emerging health issues in environmental and occupational medicine, reproductive and developmental epidemiology, children’s environmental health, and cancer causes and control. I have published over 400 scientific articles, received the Outstanding Research Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology in Taiwan in 2015 and 2020, and have been named in the world's top 2% scientists list since 2019. I was the first chair of the Birth Cohort Consortium of Asia (BiCCA) in 2012-2014, and served as chair of the Scientific Committee on Reproductive Hazards in the Workplace (RHICOH), International Commission on Occupational Health (ICOH) in 2012-2018. Currently, I am also appointed as a Distinguished Investigator and Director of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences at the National Health Research Institutes, Taiwan. In 2023, I was also elected as a Fellow of the Collegium Ramazzini.
